I never wanted to one of those TV people that could only talk about TV
I learned technology fast when I became an entrepreneur.
I threw money at the problem and hired coaches when I couldn’t wrap my head around it.
So, when I was nominated to host Techwalk, a weekly event that brings together folks in Tech and SaaS for a networking walk in Central Park, my imposter syndrome came rushing forward.
Sh&&! What would my talk track be?
I’m a news anchor who has a business teaching public speaking.
But hang on a second. I had to adjust my talk track
I use a TON of technology to help my clients.
For example, my client, who is a chef, launched his inaugural supper club concept
For three years, he had sat on it. His clients were asking him to do more storytelling around his food.
We work on several things, including his public speaking
He practiced delivering his practice drills with his stories on his IPhone and uploading it to an AI-driven platform called “Yoodli” which allowed me to attach feedback and comments inside the portal.
I shared a daily journaling practice to record “story worthy moments” from each day, to encourage him to start thinking in ‘story.’ I traditionally ask clients to use the “Morning Pages App” which uses AI to track primary themes in entries to build self-awareness
He began working on creating reels for his Instagram to reach new audiences with his supper club concept. Unless you’re a 12 year old girl, editing reels on a phone can become incredibly frustrating. I shared the AI-powered tool “Capcut,” to makes reel creation possible on a desktop, and adding text SO MUCH EASIER.
He started a newsletter to nurture new relationships from Instagram and new visitors to his website. I gave him a choice between Convertkit and Beehiiv. He chose Beehiiv with its own suite of AI tools for users. We drafted his first few weeks of newsletters together.
Moving forward, now that we have tied up our work together, I recommended an AI-powered content management platform called Publer. It will allow him to pre-schedule posts for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and analyze their performance on his desktop.
That’s what I led with during my introductions.
