October 1st, 2015, I was moderating this panel at an event for my business. The topic was best practices for better networking.

It was a big event. Back in 2015, I was averaging at least 60-100 women in attendance.

But it tees up the next comment from Bissera (below).

“How is it that you met me once, two years ago, and you still know my name, Joya?”

In full transparency, I have photographic memory. Officially, it’s called “eidetic memory.” If I have seen something in print once, I can recall it. With hosting events, I see everyone’s name as she registers.

I know both first and last name from memory.

But that didn’t help Bissera, who is in sales at an art gallery here in New York City, and wanted the same brand of retention for client engagement.

So, in today’s post, I’m teaching you how to create your own “second brain” so you can

  • Store information

  • Organize information

  • Retrieve information

easily

Building a “Second Brain” is about creating a system —so your first brain can focus on thinking. NOT REMEMBERING. Your brain is a terrible place to store things, especially if you are functioning on little sleep. A sleep deficit, according to Matthew Walker in his book “Why We Sleep” means that your body isn’t sending the day’s learning to long term storage for retrieval later.

So, we need a “Second Brain” to help

The term “Second brain” was popularized by Tiago Forte, and his method (called PARA) is one of the most widely used.
