I felt everything at this morning’s hot yoga class.
I felt the whitefish on an english muffin I had for breakfast.
I felt the glass of white wine from the night before.
I felt I wanted to run out of the room like Macauley Culkin in Home Alone, hands raised.
Hot yoga is usually calibrated to 95-105 degree heat.
This room felt nuclear.
But a wonderful respite from the rain in New York.
Saturday marked my return to a hot yoga class. I had been on hiatus since my surgery in February.
In setting my goals for 2025, I marked that I needed to return to this practice because it helps me to be less reactive as a leader. Self-care and energy management is part of my success strategy as I ready to head up a whole new class of the Mastermind in 2025.
My heart was pounding out of my chest at this first class. Have I gotten too old for this too?
I felt heartened by my colleague Tara, who is in her 20’s.
“That was brutal.”
Agreed. I’d have to embrace my imperfection and concede to building my stamina back up to pre surgery levels.
Afterwards, I gingerly made my way to my facial.
I see Nikki at Ageless Skin and Body every four weeks for a dermaplaning. This process removes all the fine hairs from my face and allows the product I slather on day and night to seep into my skin.
I am also a regular at my dermatologist Dr. Eric Kusseluk’s office on Madison Avenue. Anytime I get a breakout (yes I still get them), he’s prescribed a low dose of anti inflammatory that takes the swelling down before it scars.

Caudelie beauty elixir. In 2023, I spent a month in Paris. I took the train 2 hours down to the Caudelie spa in Bordeaux, where all skincare products originate from vines and grapes, being wine country and all.
My big takeaway was this mist. I get the travel sized container and throw it in my purse in the summer to cool my face down.
Other seasons, I use it as a makeup setting spray.
Nuxe Huile. 7 oils comprise this body oil, including Argan, Macadamia, Hazelnut, Sweet Almond.
I love it because summer or winter, it evaporates easily and doesn’t stick to my clothes. It used to be an exotic thing, but now its available on Amazon.
Laroche Posay Baume B5 Cicaplaste I never ever board a flight without this.
It’s moisturizer on steroids. Use it to heal a cut or wound. Use it to offset the dehydration on a flight. I layer it on after a sunburn.
The Lipikar Lotion is another product in the La Roche Posay line. It’s one step down in intensity from Baume B5. Great for dry skin all over in the winter.
SVR Sebiaclear. I honestly can’t ever find this particular product stateside. So when I run out, I’m SOL until the next trip.
It’s a toner after I remove my makeup at night. It’s a toner right before I put on my serum and makeup for the day.
I don’t get this at a French pharmacy. But it is my everyday skin care regimen.
